Gamesley 5 Chapel Town 2 - Saturday 7th August

Gamesley won their final friendly on Saturday against Manchester League side Chapel Town.

Gamesley took the lead early on when Dewhurst turned past everyone to side foot in a corner.

Gamesley created a few more chances but Chapel took over the game and a couple of pieces of slack marking let the visitors in to score well, making it even at 1 all after 15 minutes, with Chapel taking a 2 – 1 lead five minutes later.

Just before the break debutant Lee Turvey scored the equaliser from close range making it all square at the end of the first half.

The second half belonged to Gamesley with Andy Heath and veteran Bryan Capper taking control of midfield and another debutant Matt Broaders doing well on the flank.

After 5 minutes Mike Dewhurst added the 3rd with a great lob and the never stopping Turvey did the same from the other side after 10 minutes of the second half making it 4 – 2.

Andy Heath finished off the scoring 5 minutes later with the best move of the match making it 5 – 2.

Gamesley created a few more chances in the remaining part of the second half but failed to add with Chapel Town taking every opportunity looking for the counter attack but the home defence held firm and the match finished with Gamesley taking the honours with a 5 – 2 score line.

This coming Saturday (14th August) the first team are away to Knutsford who did the double on Gamesley last season, with the reserve starting their home part of their league campaign with a home tie to Eagle Sport Reserves, kick off 3.00pm.
